Create Your Own Steam Room

This little trick leaves your bathroom feeling like a subtle steam room invigorating all the senses. All you need to do is grab a handful of naturally dried sprigs of your choice, something you love the smell of. For me, it’s eucalyptus, which I’m currently using, or lavender. The amount you use is down to your personal preference. I don’t like strong smells, so subtlety is essential for me. Enjoy it with your favourite bathroom, routine and products.

What you’ll need:

  • string and/or rubber band

  • dried sprigs of your choice such as lavender or eucalyptus (herbs might work well here also)

Setup:

  • Tie sprigs together with a rubber band or string. Make sure to leave or attach a long enough bit of string so that you can tie it around your shower head.

  • Hang your herbs, dried sprigs of choice around or just underneath your shower head, preferably so that the water passes through it. Maybe use eucalyptus to pick you up, and lavender to wind you down.

Extra tip:

In Japan, we often use dried yuzu peels (Japanese citrus similar to a mix of grapefruit and lemon) so as not to waste it, in a hot steaming bath. I’ve never tried, but perhaps it would also work to tie a bunch together or put into some natural netting and hang also.
